Nuno Loureiro is a producer, multi-instrumentalist, and sound artist from Porto. His insistent experimentalism—whether channelled through a computer, an Octatrack, or a modular synthesiser—ensures that his sound is constantly evolving. Deeply versed in multiple DSP practices from the 1990s to the 2010s, Loureiro's concept-first, process-driven approach often leads him to construct sample-based systems that serve as his sonic playground.

This approach takes centre stage on Lua Onus, his debut release, issued in 2023 on Superpang. Finding a technical kinship within online computer music communities, Loureiro reshapes this sonic DNA by refusing to settle into any clichéd sound palette. Recording material by whatever means are at hand, he feeds samples directly into systems where control and randomness continuously exchange roles. The result is a compelling blend of post-human algorithmic experimentation and a pseudo-lo-fi aesthetic.

Loureiro also extends his practice into web-based multimedia, creating interactive experiences that push beyond traditional ready-made formats. For gnration, he developed Lua Tua (luatua.nunoloureiro.xyz), an online work combining p5.js and Hydra for visuals with Pure Data/webpd for real-time audio synthesis. The project creates a unique ambient landscape that runs entirely in the browser, inspired by his experiments using neural networks to reinterpret the Lua Onus album.

Nuno Loureiro has presented his work at festivals and venues including Tremor, Meakusma, gnration, and Semibreve. An active touring artist, he performs both solo and as part of several musical projects, including TNL, Solar Corona, Fugly, and Milteto. His collaborations include work with Richie Culver and Pedro Huet. Beyond performance, Loureiro hosts the monthly radio programme reza clunx schemes on CAMP Radio, an independent station operating from an art residency in the Pyrenees.
