oBastidor apresenta
On 9 July, from 6 pm, Bastidor presents 3 durational moments with Filipa Tojal, Jiôn Kiim & João Pedro Amorim, and Soraia Gomes Teixeira, together with the exhibition opening: "To be the outside leg" by Fábio Araújo.
Bastidor is a mobile exhibition structure that can be used in different ways and positions. It was created in 2023 and has since been programmed by Colectivo AraújoMotaTeixeira and produced by Galeria Ocupa.
Filipa Tojal (1993) is a visual artist. She lives and works in Porto. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Painting – Fine Arts from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto (FBAUP), a Master's degree in Painting from Tokyo University of the Arts (MEXT scholarship recipient), and is currently a PhD candidate in Fine Arts at FBAUP.
Her practice develops from painting, understood as an expanded field that moves between landscape and painting itself, exploring the relationships between composition, materiality, and atmosphere. Marked by her years of study and work in Japan, her process is based on prolonged attention to the behaviour of materials, the absorption of pigment, and the subtle variations of colour, pursuing green and its ambiguities.
After living and working in different international contexts, she returned to Portugal, maintaining an international presence through exhibitions, artist residencies, and collaborations in Europe, Asia, and the United States.
Among her recent solo exhibitions are Entre Superfícies (School of Arts, Autonomous University of Lisbon, 2025), Fallen Apricots (Space of Time Gallery, Beijing, 2024), Visible Transparency, Unclear Opacity (CIRCLE & HOUSE by Method, Tokyo, 2024), Ecotone (Sage Culture Gallery, Los Angeles, 2023), Longe (CAAA, Guimarães, 2022), Unflatten (SCOPE BLN, Berlin, 2021), and Trees all singing (Casa das Artes, Porto, 2019; organised by Sismógrafo).
She has undertaken artist residencies at institutions and programmes such as No Entulho – Artworks (Portugal), Joya (Andalusia), Alfaia (Loulé), Sage Culture (Los Angeles), Space of Time (Beijing), BigCi (Australia), SCOPE BLN (Berlin), CMIF (Azores), Become Become (Bali), and Carpe Diem (India).
Jiôn Kiim (1982, Busan, South Korea) holds a Diploma in Fine Arts from HfBK Dresden. She studied at Kunstakademie Stuttgart, FBAUP, and Hongik University in Seoul. She is represented by Galeria Presença. João Pedro Amorim (1993, Arcos de Valdevez) is a visual artist and researcher at CITAR, School of Arts – UCP, where he also teaches. He holds a Master's degree in Contemporary Artistic Practices from FBAUP. They have worked together since the exhibition A Circle on the Water (2017, ArtspaceO, Seoul), and since 2020 as members of the collective Tempestade, where they develop artistic research projects as co-authors or individually. Since then, they have produced the films as sombras e os seus nomes (2020) and Da Insolência do Natural (2025, forthcoming)—directed by João Pedro Amorim—and the exhibition projects As Torres e os Bosques (2022, INSTITUTO, Porto) and a tiny block of void, an empty sign or a cup of tea (2020, Dentro, Porto)—exhibitions by Jiôn Kiim curated by João Pedro Amorim. As Torres e os Bosques also gave rise to a photography book. Their collaborative work results from the exploration of specific spaces and contexts, from which they create spatial installations combining the materiality of painting, the luminosity of video, and the narrativity of sound.
Their works are part of the Porto City Council Art Collection, and they have presented their work at venues and in publications including Casa da Cerca | Galeria Municipal de Almada, On The Surface: photography conference | MAAT (Lisbon), Galeria Municipal do Porto, Batalha Centro de Cinema, Museu do Porto | Casa Museu Marta Ortigão Sampaio, Galeria Presença, Revista Dose #6, scopio editions, Ci.CLO Biennial 19, Galeria aSede, Extéril and Mármol (Porto), Bienal de Arte de Vila Nova de Cerveira, Alfaia (Loulé), Salon Sophie Charlotte | Berlin-Brandenburg Academy (Berlin), GnRation (Braga), ZAWP (Bilbao), Living Art Museum (Reykjavik), Westwerk (Hamburg), Motorenhalle, Ex14, and Oktogon (Dresden), XEC Interplay, and Hanshan Art Museum (Taicang and Suzhou, China).
Soraia Gomes Teixeira is an object designer who lives and works in the city of Porto. In recent years, she has explored objects as tools for mediating aesthetic experiences related to the sensitive unveiling of corporeality and human relationships. The projects Peso Leve (2024), Máquina de Toque (2024), and Public Devices for Therapy (2020) are examples of this practical exploration, which opens the way to an individual reflection with collective implications on relational action in contemporary society.
Her practice proposes the expansion of the fields of action of design, finding in aesthetic experience the common ground for the expansion of that territory. She understands design as a social tool whose functionality also lies in its intention to question and leverage possibilities that are not immediate.
She is co-author of the book Um Percurso Material para Conhecer, Tratar, Habitar e Cuidar (2025), which explores the materiality of mental health through three Portuguese institutions, and author of the book Tocar o Lugar Comum (2023), an essay on designed objects that authorize touch, both published by Vai-Vem Editora.
She holds a PhD from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and EINA – Centre Universitari de Disseny i Art de Barcelona, with the thesis Embodied Experience: Design as Practice for Unveiling the Sensible. She studied Product Design at the Escola Superior de Artes e Design das Caldas da Rainha.
Alongside her work as a designer, she is a guest lecturer in the Product Design undergraduate programme at the School of Architecture, Art and Design of the University of Minho.
