Fábio Araújo (b. 1996) lives and works between Santa Maria da Feira, Porto, and Guimarães, Portugal.

He holds an MA in Drawing – Fine Arts (2020) and a BA in Painting – Fine Arts (2018) from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto (FBAUP). He was an exchange student at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague (Akademie výtvarných umění), Czech Republic (2019–20).

He has exhibited regularly in solo and group exhibitions since 2012. Selected group exhibitions include APTUS (2026), o Consultório, Chamusca, Portugal; Risco de Queda (2025), Galeria Pato, Évora, Portugal, with the collective Araújo Mota Teixeira; Cumulus – ou a nuvem mais pesada (2024), with David Lopes, oInstituto, Porto; and Ensaio para uma verdade inventada (2023), with Rui Mota, Galeria Ocupa!, Porto.

Selected solo exhibitions include A leveza do ser (invisível) (2026), Galeria Plato, Porto; Na Noite, os elefantes dormem de pé (2026), Área 55, Guimarães; Solúvel (2026), SPUT&NIK, Porto; Postura(s) (2025), Extéril, Porto; Na banheira não há peixes... (2022), ArtLab24, Espinho; As Ações de Praga (2021), Fundação Bienal de Arte de Cerveira; Expedições Urbanas (2021), Fundação Júlio Resende; and Backyard Interventions (or how to deviate from its sayings) (2021), B93, Enschede, the Netherlands.

He was awarded the Local Creative Support Open Call with the project Tenho o teu Nariz! ("I Have Your Nose!"), presented at Imaginarius'24 and Serralves em Festa 2024. He is the recipient of the Young Artists Competition 2021 (Fundação Bienal de Arte de Cerveira), and was a finalist for Portuguese Emerging Art (2020), the Carpe Diem Arte Jovem Millennium BCP Award (2019), and the New Luso-Galician Talents Award at the 12th Eixo Atlântico Painting Biennial (2017), Portugal/Spain.

His artistic residencies include Imaginarius Creation Centre (2024), Santa Maria da Feira, Portugal; Can Serrat (2022), Barcelona, Spain; Mescla em Residência (2022), Oficina Mescla, Porto; CreArt AiR (2021), Artkomas, Kaunas, Lithuania; air_Pousio – Bonecreiro (2021), Barcelos, Portugal; and ARE Residency (2021), Enschede, the Netherlands.

He is co-artistic director of the exhibition project Área 55 (with Pedro Cunha), oBastidor (with Rui Mota and Alexandre Teixeira), and CiRARTES – Encontro de Artes Plásticas (2024–25), CiRAC, Portugal. He is also a member of Galeria Ocupa (production support) and has served as a Visiting Teaching Assistant at the School of Architecture, Art and Design of the University of Minho (EAAD) and the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto (FAUP).
