LISA SERENO + VITORIA VERMELHO LISA SERENO + VITORIA VERMELHO LISA SERENO + VITORIA VERMELHO
On her debut album, “Belonging”, Lisa Sereno showcases her dreamy voice and unveils a world filled with emotions immersed in a pop-folk musical atmosphere. “Belonging” explores the need to belong; it is a mourning for the experiences in which we lose ourselves while trying to mould ourselves to places, situations, or people to whom we do not belong. It is about the search for a place that feels like home and welcomes us unconditionally, and the materialisation of these songs is about accepting that this very place exists within us.

Vitoria Vermelho is the stage name of Francisca Oliveira and results from the fusion of her favourite name and a surname that was left behind by her grandmother.

Francisca gave her first performances with the Porto Jazz School and in 2021/2022 took part in The Voice. In 2023, she emerged onto Porto’s music scene as Vitoria Vermelho, having already performed in Paris, Porto and Lisbon, where she presented songs from her debut album.

“Homónimo” is the result of a collection of songs written throughout the artist’s formative years as a form of therapy. In 2019, she wrote “Always”, and the songs continued to emerge until 2024.

Vitoria Vermelho is the voice through which Francisca Oliveira freely shares her anxieties and desires. From this, an intense musical character emerges, full of emotions close to the surface.

The songs offer a sense of comfort, creating a moment of sharing and conversation, exploring a wide range of feelings.

The multiplicity of emotions and tones found throughout the album makes Vitoria Vermelho’s visual identity difficult to define. The common thread between the songs would be her desire to share, so the idea was to bring together 14 artists, expose them to the songs, and ask each of them to listen and interpret them through drawing. Eight graphic compositions were created, each made up of 14 drawings, representing a journey through the album.

The final creation presents 14 different interpretations of the album and the characteristic turmoil of the moments portrayed across the 8 songs.

As a result of this work, the act of manipulating images through drawing became Vitoria Vermelho’s visual identity, expressing through imagery a desire for control and a constant embellishment of the world around her.
