ABEL // Cie del Caravaggio
Ensaios de Circo is the result of an artistic residency at Clube Erva Daninha, Erva Daninha space, at Espaço Agra. This program supports shows that are in the creation phase and have yet to premiere. They are presented here in an open rehearsal format with content and duration still under development. This activity seeks to stimulate the creation of contemporary circus and also to establish contact between creators, audiences, and programmers in a relaxed and constructive environment. In addition to the rehearsal space, Erva Daninha provides financial, technical, and communication support to artists.

“Abel” is smoke, it is vanity.
“Abel” is an overly ambitious show that fails to find a solution. A densely woven story of sensations, presented as a bottomless abyss. A densely woven story of sensations, which presents itself as a bottomless abyss. As if the pretension of expressing vital fullness revealed the emptiness that contains it. “Abel” is the making of a play, where what is presented masks the true story. On stage, the characters struggle to find an ending for this work, for which it seems difficult to find a solution. It is an echo of life, of the society of appearances, and of the human condition of loneliness, with which we are often confronted. Inspired by the myth of the Trojan horse, and using the concept of matrioshka, the project proposes a reading of the “visible and invisible” universes. Confronted with themselves, the actors bear witness to the friction between worlds that coexist, attract each other, and resist each other: the perceptible and the imperceptible, the real and the fictional. This is a concomitance where they encounter their realities, intertwined with fears, dreams, and ghosts. Human frailties in the face of a society that does not admit mistakes.
