“Ensaios de Circo” is the result of an artist residency at Clube Erva Daninha, in the Erva Daninha hall at Espaço Agra. This program supports performances that are in the creation phase and have yet to premiere. They are presented here in an open rehearsal format, with content and duration still under development. This activity seeks to stimulate the creation of contemporary circus and also to establish contact between creators, audiences, and programmers in a relaxed and constructive environment. In addition to the rehearsal space, Erva Daninha provides financial, technical, and communication support to the artists.

Ensaios de Circo are part of Clube Erva Daninha’s 25/26 programming cycle, with support from the Criatório of Ágora – Cultura e Desporto do Porto, E.M., S.A. program.

Virulana is an act of bodily memory, a painting in motion that, through curly hair, whispers what was denied and celebrates what was recovered. Through acrobatics, painting, and movement, a woman unearths the silenced gesture of wanting to be different. It is not just her hair that is set free, but everything she had to hide in order to be accepted.
