Colinas + The Youths
From a crack in time, COLINAS emerged — a noise machine forged in the heat of VHS tapes and sonic discontent. João, Pedro, and Cláudio are the trio driving this relentless apparent disorder, navigating through strings, sticks, and pedals. COLINAS creates music inspired by ’90s nihilism, embracing the cacophony of noise rock, the urgency of punk, and the mechanical pulse of electronics. Live, it is all of that — and more.
Formed in 2006, The Youths released their self-titled debut album with a raw and visceral approach, close to garage punk. The album was praised by essential genre publications, such as Maximum Rock'n'Roll, which described it as "fast, intelligently angry and done right". Released by Criminal IQ — reference label in the Chicago no-wave/punk scene — the album paved the way for "Generationless", a work that captured the band's disenchantment with Lisbon at the time. With these albums, they played on stages in Portugal, Spain, and Germany.
After a long hiatus, The Youths returned with two explosive new singles: "Red Alert" and "Taking Back", reasserting their raw and incisive sound. The band went back to original compositions after "Generationless", ready to resume regular releases.
They made their comeback debut with a concert at Vortex, alongside the Parisian Alvilda, one of the big names in the current international punk scene. This new phase also brings two novelties: the entry of Tony coelho, who already stands out in the post-punk band Rival Clubs, and Fernando Chovich, who was part of the São Paulo punk supergroup B.U.S.H. and currently plays with Grand Wreck. These new forces are already expanding the group's sonic dynamic, which can be witnessed in the new songs they are already performing live. Otherwise, the spirit remains the same: direct, urgent, and fierce music, inspired by the hardcore punk that earned them a cult status.
Between studio and stage, they promise to continue their uncompromising trajectory, faithful to the philosophy that made them a reference in the Portuguese underground scene.
