The unique collaboration between Daniele Guerrini (a.k.a. Heith, based in Milan) and Teguh Permana (Tarawangsawelas) has been developing over the past decade. Having met and recorded their first sketches in Bandung in 2017, and later reconnecting to refine those ideas (both remotely and during joint tours), the duo’s first collaborative album, Duori, navigates between two distinct styles, cultural perspectives and a shared friendship.
The result is a liminal musical space, free from territorial boundaries or language barriers. While Permana’s Indonesian heritage forms the project’s guiding thread (drawing on traditional instruments such as the kacapi and tarawangsa, as well as Réak ceremonies and trance music originating from West Java), Heith’s sensibility emerges through the electronic and lo-fi processing of the compositions, whose essence is transmitted, decomposed and reinterpreted in a fluid exchange of spirit, memory and landscape.
