Coming from Porto, the Cat Soup are an instrumental rock quintet that moves between technical precision and pure energy. Even so, they preserve a captivating familiarity with heavy rock. Their first album, “you only 180”, released in 2024, reaffirms the band’s power on stage, with explosive performances in venues and festivals from north to south of the country. With new compositions that challenge orthodox form and structure, Cat Soup open the way to a new creative phase, already setting their sights on a third album scheduled for 2026.
Marquise emerges from the land of morgadinhas, from the tradition of 90s melodic pavements, hammered silverware and plates rippling in the wind. It all begins with M in the sugarcane fields of the rock Júlio Dinis once dreamed of, where pretty girls use distortion pedals and criticize liberal ideals - Marquise is Mafalda, Matias, and Miguel times two, like someone staring into a mirror. Together they make Music for those who dig Cobain, winking at the suicidal geniuses of handcrafted eras, with a female voice capable of bringing them back to life. In Seattle it rained all year round and musicians locked themselves in the garage to play. Marquise wanted to be a balcony in Porto, but the open air was taken from them. Now, armed with throat, drumsticks and picks, they fiercely attack the walls to make themselves known to the world. The songs are knocking hard — open them a window!
