To celebrate the 5th anniversary of the acclaimed composition that Floating Points (Sam Shepherd) recorded with tenor saxophonist and jazz legend Pharoah Sanders, together with the London Symphony Orchestra, Music on Music presents its first event in partnership with Music and Riots and Luaka Bop — a listening session of “Promises”, accompanied by a rare screening of “Promises: Through Congress” and a live Q&A with special guest Trevor Tweeten.

Directed by Tweeten at The Broad (Los Angeles), and previously screened at the Barbican Centre (London), Anthology Film Archives (New York), and Le Guess Who? (Utrecht), “Promises: Through Congress” connects the work of visual artist Julia Mehretu, “Congress”, to the nine movements presented in “Promises”. It is the perfect opportunity to discover or revisit the unlikely yet essential collaboration between brilliant minds that resulted in one of the defining musical landmarks of the present decade, as well as a transformative celebration of the rewarding power of music as an artistic medium — one that deserves every minute spent listening to it.
