Horta do Agra: Herbs
After spending March and April focusing on our major spring plantings, it’s now time to take care of our herb garden. We have a bed with mint, lemon balm, lemon verbena, and sage that needs some love and maybe a few more herbs. If you’re interested in arranging garden beds and learning more about herbs, join us on the 14th :)

More about our garden's life

At Agra, we have a garden with five beds of vegetables and aromatic herbs that have been built over the last 2 years by the resident community and those who wanted to help. Throughout the entire process, we relied on the essential guidance and enthusiasm of Filipa Almeida from @jardins_al_dente. The beds are fertilized with compost produced right here, made from food scraps from the kitchen and bar, creating a direct link between cultivation and consumption. During harvest seasons, the produce is shared with the community, and some plants are used in Agra’s kitchen to enrich dishes with flavors grown in the garden right out front. Whether with hands in the soil planting vegetables, or sitting down to watch a documentary and discuss our consumption habits, the monthly garden sessions are open to everyone and designed for different forms of participation. These garden gatherings have been a space for pause and rest, where participants find the time to slow down and connect with nature amidst the city and the rush of daily life. They are also moments for those who care for it together to meet and reflect on how we relate to the earth and our food.
