Ensaios de Circo is the result of an artistic residency at Clube Erva Daninha, in Erva Daninha’s venue at Espaço Agra. This programme supports performances that are still in the creation phase and have yet to premiere. They are presented here in an open rehearsal format, with content and duration still in development. This initiative aims to stimulate the creation of contemporary circus while also fostering contact between creators, audiences, and programmers in a relaxed and constructive environment. In addition to providing rehearsal space, Erva Daninha offers financial, technical, and communication support to the artists.

Ensaios de Circo is part of the 25/26 programming cycle of Clube Erva Daninha, with the support of the Criatório programme by Ágora – Cultura e Desporto do Porto, E.M., S.A. Companhia Erva Daninha is supported by República Portuguesa – Cultura, Juventude e Desporto / Direção-Geral das Artes.


Albatroz, by Vasco Gomes:

A silver tremor, a collapse of shimmering leaves, and in the distance an albatross taking flight! An experience that reflects the cycles of time. A solitary moment of manipulating materials and matter that accumulate time and the renewal of cycles. With wingspans that can exceed 3.5 metres in the largest species, the albatross is the largest flying bird. Taking flight carrying the weight of some years, of certain constructions and collapses, of celebrations and a few embraces. Taking flight in the distance!
